The free data feed is IEX only, not the full market, and it holds back the latest 15 minutes of history. Full-market data costs $99 a month on Algo Trader Plus unless net deposits reach $100,000. Paper results ignore slippage, dividends and fees, so they flatter a strategy. Its Trustpilot profile is small and harsh, 2.2 from 41 reviews, with most complaints about verification, support response and withdrawals.

Alpaca is the opposite of a gateway you babysit: API keys, a REST and websocket API, SDKs in five languages, and a paper account that runs the same code as live. The trade-off is the one this commenter names. Interactive Brokers still wins on market access and latency, so pick Alpaca when your bottleneck is building and testing, not raw execution.
