The Verdict

Most free finance sites are lead magnets. StockAnalysis.com is the rare one that r/stocks and r/ValueInvesting recommend without a hedge — described as Yahoo Finance a thousand times better, fast, clutter-free, and covering 130,000-plus stocks and funds globally. There is no catch to find. The one recurring criticism is drift: features people used for free have moved behind Pro over time, and that trend has a direction. At $79 a year for Pro, with a 60-day no-questions refund window and no card required to sign up free, this is the cheapest real research subscription on our board. Whether you need it is a separate question, and the vendor answers it honestly in its own FAQ: most people do not need Unlimited.

The Watch-Out

The Unlimited tier's annual total is not published anywhere before checkout. The page shows $16.58 a month billed annually and nothing else — no lump sum, no monthly-billing rate. Arithmetic suggests $198.96, but StockAnalysis does not state it, and an automated extraction we ran returned a fabricated $199 that appears nowhere in the page source. Do not trust any Unlimited annual figure you see quoted, including that one. Note too that Pro billed monthly at $9.99 costs 52% more than Pro billed annually.

“StockAnalysis.com – Loved for its clean layout and educational popups on financials. Some features recently paywalled.”

The paywall creep is real and worth watching, but the honest read is that Pro at $79 a year is priced where the complaint stops mattering. The more useful move is to work out whether you need Pro at all. The free tier covers quick checks and basic screening completely. Pro earns its money on two things: multi-decade financial history and saved screeners with brokerage sync. If neither of those is part of your process, stay free and stop reading pricing pages.

“StockAnalysis.com (and mobile app) is the only thing I use. Like Yahoo Finance but 1000x better. Super fast, clutter-free, good data, nice stock screener and watchlist features. If you're open to paid then Seeking Alpha too, but more for investment analysis / opinion stuff.”

“You will learn over time all of the Free one’s suck. Why? Information is not free. Crappy info. is. Doing this now 35 years, I use my brokerage (Fidelity for 10-15%) and have key metrics I look at (learned over time), such as how to do graham valuations or manually calculate PEG ratio’s etc.. the free sites all want your subscription to unlock the premium content/info which your brokerage is or should be providing already.”

Pros and Cons

What works

  • The free tier is genuinely usable and requires no payment details at all
  • Pro at $79 a year is the cheapest serious research subscription on our board
  • 60-day no-questions-asked money back guarantee, the most generous refund window here
  • Covers 130,000-plus global stocks and funds with 10 to 40 years of financial history on Pro
  • The vendor's own FAQ tells you most users do not need the expensive tier, which is unusually straight

What doesn’t

  • Features that were free have moved behind Pro over time, and users have noticed
  • The Unlimited annual total is never published before checkout
  • Pro billed monthly costs 52% more than billed annually, and the monthly rate is buried in an FAQ
  • Free tier limits are not enumerated anywhere first-party — you find them by hitting them
  • Pro still caps you at 1 download a day, 100 stocks per watchlist and 100 active alerts
