Stock Rover Pricing: The $7.99 Plan Is Gone

Stock Rover pricing now checks in at 72 out of 100 on the FullStack Alpha scale, and the cheapest paid tier, Premium, costs $34 a month or $348 a year. That's close to double the old $17.99 Premium price, and the $7.99-a-month Essentials plan that made Stock Rover the default budget pick for dividend and value investors no longer exists. This tool still fits a long-term, fundamentals-driven investor who wants deep screening and doesn't mind a browser interface. It does not fit a day trader, a global-markets investor, or anyone shopping on mobile-app convenience.

The Verdict

Stock Rover's screening is the reason people pay for it. Custom equations, historical screening and several hundred metrics put it ahead of anything at its price for fundamental research, and value investors recommend it in screener threads more consistently than any rival. The rest of the product does not keep pace. Portfolio analysis draws direct criticism against free alternatives, and users report occasional errors in dividend data. Buy it for the screener and treat the surrounding features as a bonus.

The Watch-Out

Billing is where the complaints cluster. Subscriptions auto-renew, and users report needing to give notice ahead of the anniversary date to avoid being charged the full rate. There are no refunds on cancellation. The upside is the trial is unusually fair: 14 days, any plan, and genuinely no card required.

Stock Rover

Stock Rover takes the opposite position: rather than naming a stock, it hands you the filters to find your own and lets you write the equation behind them. That is more work up front and it is the reason the screener is the part people actually praise.

“I use Stock Rover. I tried some other good platforms (GuruFocus & FinChat), but Stock Rover suits me best. Its screening capabilities are unmatched, even allowing me to create custom equations.”

“I've been using Stock Rover for the past 2 years (the Premium Plus plan) and like it fairly well. They have good screeners and a helpful rating system. There have been instances where they get dividend info incorrect though.”

“Stock Rover does a poor job of analyzing the portfolio overall. I much prefer Morningstar Xray and Empower (free).”

“I just kicked off a trial yesterday. It looks extremely compelling with the ability to make equations and recall historical numbers in a screening context. I also really enjoy the clean simplicity of the UI/UX”

Pros and Cons

What works

  • Screening depth is the best in its price band, including custom equations
  • A genuinely free permanent plan, plus a 14-day trial with no card required
  • Three billing cycles published with real totals, not just monthly equivalents
  • Historical and ranked screening that most rivals charge far more for

What doesn’t

  • Portfolio analysis is weaker than free alternatives, by users' own comparison
  • Occasional data errors reported, dividend figures specifically
  • Auto-renew with advance-notice cancellation and no refunds
  • Research Reports are billed as a separate subscription on top
