TipRanks Smart Score: Eight Signals, One Number, No Promises

The TipRanks Smart Score compresses eight signals into one number, and it earns a 78 out of 100 on the FullStack Alpha scale: worth paying for if you want fast sentiment checks and idea generation, not worth paying for if you want it to make decisions for you.

The Verdict

TipRanks does one thing almost nobody else does: it scores the people making the calls, not just the calls. Being able to see an analyst's hit rate before weighing their price target is a real edge over reading a consensus number cold. Coverage of European and UK names beats most US-built rivals, and across Trustpilot, the App Store and Google Play the research itself draws consistent praise. Read the criticism carefully and it is rarely aimed at the analysis. It lands on billing and support.

The Watch-Out

Two things to know before subscribing. Every price on the plans page is a 55% introductory discount applied by a coupon at checkout, so list is $359 a year for Premium and $599 for Ultimate. And the most repeated complaint across every review platform is commercial rather than editorial: charges landing before a trial ends, and slow or absent support responses. The research holds up better than the billing does.

Verification is exactly the gap TipRanks targets. Instead of asking whether a price target is credible, you can see how often that specific analyst has been right and by how much. It works when the underlying tracking is accurate, which is the caveat running through the quotes below.

What Users Say

Sentiment pulled from three independent sources, kept separate so you can weigh each one yourself.

“I'm an author and I can tell you that Tipranks is really bad at following the authors they're supposedly tracking. The automated system often misinterprets recommendations. It also just skips entire weeks or months of articles I've published.”

“Tipranks I was an ultimate member of but noticed some weird issues on a few of the tickers I was holding. They were wrong. Wrong everything. Wrong chart. Wrong analysis.”

“I have tested both. Tipranks works for me as it has better coverage of European and UK stocks. I made twice the annual cost back on a $5,000 investment with one tip.”

“Platforms like TipRanks can be handy for quick insights, but I'd never rely on them 100%. They're a supplement at best, the real value comes from learning to read reports and trends yourself over time.”

Pros and Cons

What works

  • Scores the analysts themselves, which very few competitors attempt
  • Stronger European and UK coverage than most US-built rivals
  • Aggregates analyst, insider and fund activity into one view
  • Published expert rankings you can audit rather than a black box

What doesn’t

  • Automated tracking misreads or drops source material, and errors surface on real tickers
  • Advertised prices are an intro discount off a much higher list price
  • No free trial, and the refund requires emailing support
  • The interface is dense and draws consistent criticism
