Trade or Sit Out?

Most swing traders ask which stock to buy. The better first question is whether this is a week to be buying anything. Set the six inputs below and get a plain verdict: trade normal size, trade half size, or sit in cash. Every rule and threshold is printed underneath, so nothing here is a black box.

The question this answers
“Should I be trading this week, or sitting in cash?”

“Sitting on it” means within about 1% of the line.

Conditions back your plan. Take the setups your rules call for at your standard risk per trade, and leave your stops where your plan put them.

What drove it

  • +1Only 58% of stocks are above their 50-day. Fewer names doing the lifting means fewer clean setups.
  • PASSThe S&P 500 is above its 50-day. The tide is with you.
  • PASSSentiment at 55 is inside the normal band. No crowd extreme to fight.
  • PASSYou are 4% off your peak. That is normal noise.
  • PASS1 loss in a row. Nothing your plan should not absorb.
  • PASSNo major scheduled event in the next 2 days.

What OVTLYR adds: this checklist makes you gather the market inputs by hand every weekend. OVTLYR automates that market-condition read. It publishes a fear and greed signal at the market, sector and single-stock level, market trend and sector headwind or tailwind reads, and signals pitched at helping you avoid major market pullbacks. The two personal rows are still yours. No tool can see your drawdown or your last five trades. Plans change, so check current pricing on ovtlyr.com.
The thresholds above are ours, built from common swing-trading risk rules: trade with the index trend, want a broad rally, cut size after losses. They are a teaching scaffold, not OVTLYR's proprietary model. A cash filter will sometimes keep you out of a week that would have paid. That is the trade you are making on purpose: give up some upside to skip the weeks where most setups fail.

The Verdict

OVTLYR scores 65, and price-to-value leads at 16. It sells discipline more than prediction, and that is its best trait. The fear and greed model, the market breadth dashboard and a pre-filtered screener turn a two-hour chart session into a short list, which is why members with full-time jobs stick around. At $299 a year on the annual pass, with a 14-day trial on monthly, the price is fair for the category, and the free OVTLYR University course is a real education rather than a sales funnel. The score comes from FullStack Alpha desk research plus public user sentiment, and the pillar split is provisional.

The Watch-Out

The system is built for trending markets, and it says so. When the tape turns choppy, the plan is to sit in cash, which means you can pay for months of being told to wait. Long-time members on Reddit split hard: some call the signals average and report a negative year, others credit it with teaching them to trade a plan. The backtests on the site are the vendor's own and unaudited, coverage skips stocks without enough price history, and there are zero reviews on Trustpilot or G2 to check against.

OVTLYR

That line is how a lot of options accounts die: no setup, no exit, just a strike and a hope. OVTLYR replaces the guess with a checklist. The trend, the sector and the crowd's mood all have to agree before a trade qualifies, and its published plan spells out sizing and exits. It will not make a bad trader good overnight, but it removes the coin flip from the entry.

Pricing

Our pick

OVTLYR Annual Pass

$299/yr

Every platform feature, about $24.92 a month, plus tax. Annual skips the free trial; OVTLYR lists the regular annual price as $828 and labels $299 a limited-time offer.

OVTLYR Monthly

$69/mo

Same features, plus tax, with a 14-day free trial before the first charge.

Vendors run promotions often, so the price at checkout can beat the one listed here, and monthly billing usually costs more per month than annual. Check the vendor’s page before you buy, or find current discounts on our deals page.
